Crest and logo
The Rhein-Kreis Neuss' new logo
At the end of 2001, the district committee unanimously adopted the communication strategy for the image redesign - a decision of fundamental importance to the future perspective of our locational marketing.
Just as with businesses, the internal and external image of a community is called a corporate identity (CI). The aim of the CI concept is to ensure a consistently uniform appearance for the district administration and its institutions. For this, the press and public relations office in charge has designed binding guidelines for the administration.
Less is more. The logo is like a (Rhine) watermark. The lower case lettering of the name only applies to the word branding. There is no accompanying image branding. The logo is itself in fact image enough.
The district crest
The cross of the Cologne electorate and the Jülich lion stand for the traditions of the Rhein-Kreis, large parts of which used to be ruled by the electorate of Cologne and Jülich.
The reorganisation of the district on January 1st 1975 brought about the following changes in the former Kreis Grevenbroich: the city of Neuss, formerly not district-affiliated, was brought into the district association and made the Kreis capital, and the Kreis Grevenbroich became the Kreis Neuss.
The district has officially been named the Rhein-Kreis Neuss since the 1st of July 2003 after North Rhine-Westphalia's Minister of the Interior sanctioned the name change, which had been unanimously chosen by the district council.
The crest of the former Kreis Grevenbroich also stands unchanged for the Rhein-Kreis Neuss. It was sanctioned on May the 2nd 1952.
A crest for all
Clubs, institutions, companies and individuals often enquire as to whether they can use the district crest or logo for their public relations materials or for commercial purposes so as to express their connection or relation to the Rhein-Kreis Neuss.
As crests and logos are protected and their use requires express permission, a modified crest is available to them free of charge. They can download the crest/logo combination for free and use it as long as this does not occur in a manner detrimental to the Rhein-Kreis Neuss' reputation.
